A Last Word

The book has tried to be honest about what is and is not known, what has and has not been solved, what is and is not being built. The honesty is part of what makes the book trustworthy, and the trustworthiness is part of what makes the invitation credible.
What can be said with confidence, at the close, is that the present moment is genuinely consequential, that the work being asked of the people who can recognize it is real and is not optional, that the builders the book has been describing exist and are waiting to find each other, and that something like the coordination infrastructure the book has been arguing for has to be built within the time available or the conditions for building it will deteriorate further.
The book has done what it can do. What comes next is what the readers do, alone and together.
The work belongs to whoever does it.
